Behind the Curtain for Almost, Maine

by Roxane Ashe

I am having the time of my life directing an incredibly talented group of actors in Almost, Maine, a play filled with belly laughs, whimsy and love.

This play was the most produced play in the U.S. last year, and it is easy to understand why. There are several separate couples experiencing love in very different ways — all under a starry and dramatically beautiful Maine sky. The entire play is a comprised of eight vignettes, all of which take place at nine o’clock on a Friday night, in the middle of winter.

While we have been rehearsing for a few weeks, we had our first run through of entire acts over the last couple of days. It was so exciting! There was hysterical laughter, contented chuckling and heartfelt gratitude from the cast. We are all thrilled to have an opportunity to bring a fresh new comedy to the Coast. I love the fact that the show is family friendly — anyone interested in love will enjoy it!

Our cast is filled with both new talent and familiar faces. We have an original score played by the gifted violinist and composer, Stephen Yogi. We have a starry sky and the excitement of the aurora borealis. We have winter in July! I am hoping for hot cocoa at intermission.

I can’t think of anything I’d rather do these days than laugh, and Almost, Maine keeps me laughing. Join me! Get your tickets now.

Love,

Roxane
